Legal Question in Employment Law in Louisiana
Here is a break down of it all ... I was in the bedroom of my home and got into an arguement with my sister . She punched me in the face a few times and then her boyfriend grabbed me around the neck and was seperating us. As we were being seperated the vice president of the company i was working for jumpped around and punched me in the face while i was being held. then he commenced to say that i was fired and wanted the shop keys . then also stated that i will never get a good refrence from there company which was known of talking down on there workers before. Do i have a case and what could i do about all this.
Thank You

There are several criminal statutes broken by several individuals. I do not have sufficient facts to determine whether their actions were justified. If you did nothing to cause the situation, you have a civil suit for damages from the persons who struck you. Louisiana is a right to hire, right to fire state. Slander or Libel are statements known to be untrue which are said or written maliciously with intent to harm. Actual harm must occur.
