Legal Question in Employment Law in Louisiana

Can a construction company hire an employee to be paid for productivity completed instead of hourly? Such as by the linear feet of striping they laid on the highway for the day? If so, would overtime be exempt?

Regardless of how you pay your employees (such as salesmen who work on commission), their pay must equal out to at least minimum wage regardless of their productivity. They are not exempt from overtime, so anything over 40 hours a week must be paid overtime.
