Legal Question in Employment Law in Louisiana

I was discharged my job earlier this month at a pretty well known advertising company. Applied for unemployment insurance and was denied. I was told I was denied because of what was written on my discharge notice. It was for non performance, "I was warned and continued my behavior". After I was discharged, I spoke to my sales manager. She informed me that it had nothing to do with my behavior because it improved and I was "doing good". My sales manager also said we could have worked on bringing up my numbers. So, the owner came back from a trip and did not like my numbers(my net just dropped to about -9% from -1% and pace was around 50, co workers net was -24% and her pace was extremely low as well in previous months she only completed 10 accounts out of 30...she was never fired). But I'm the only person they've ever fired for it(I was also the only african american employee). I'm not sure how to go about the next step as far as an appeal. Should I get an attorney or talk to my former employer? I'm located in the Alexandria, La area.

If you feel that you were discharged because of your race, color, national origin, sex, or religion, you can file a complaint and bring suit. Talk to an attorney in your area about it. You can also appeal the denial of unemployment.
