Legal Question in Employment Law in Louisiana

I drive a company vehicle. The company is based in Louisiana. If I am required to drive 5 hours one-way to a job site out-of-state (to be there for 8am) are they required to pay me? I typically drive 30-60 to a job and I know they are not required to pay for that. Ten hours round trip seems excessive driving for no pay though.

Ask them to pay you. If they say no, then you know. You apparently have an important job with that company so you probably do not fall under the regular wage earner rules. You must decide whether to demand payment is worth it. To me it sounds excessive and I would pay an employee to drive that far and so should they. Maybe the upper management don't know you are doing this. Maybe they do. Anyway the call is yours. But the easiest way is to ask. Because if you force them, it won't be long before they find a reason to fire or demote you.
