Employee Slander

I resigned from my employment of 6 years because of my employer's drug habit (crack cocaine). I worked for a small business as the Office Manager. The owner was constantly taking money out of the business account which I was responsible for paying the bills out of. I gave a 2 week notice, and left after 12 days. My employer is now going around town telling the public that I was stealing money and that was the reason I quit. This is blatantly false! There was absolutely no one stealing anything except for the owner himself; which I have proof of!

I would like to know if I could legally send a mail-out post card to approximately 200 people stating that I resigned my employment of my own free will because I could no longer handle the owner's personal problems.

While the truth is a defense to libel and slander, I would not suggest you mail the postcards. Accusing someone of theft is slander per se, so I would go after him using the court system.
