Legal Question in Employment Law in Louisiana
Can an employer keep you past your scheduled time off consistently, without you having a choice?
I work for a national pizza delivery chain. I am constantly made to stay at work after my scheduled end of shift, usually an hour to 2 hours past, if we are busy. I didn't mind but it gets really hard when I have important stuff planned. I was never told of having to do this when I started and it is nowhere in the handbook. Is this legal?

Yes, so long as they pay you for the time, including any overtime for any time above 40 hours in a week. The employer cannot make you "clock out" and work without pay, but they can make you stay beyond your scheduled time, so long as your time is kept and you are paid.
