Legal Question in Employment Law in Louisiana
What gives an employer the right to telephone an employees family about the employee at work? The employer did not attempt to discuss things with the employee first. Does the employee have a legal course of action against the employer. It's not high school, it's not the principal calling a students parents. The employee is a 42 year old single adult. There is absolutely no reason why the family of this employee should be called. Just because the department manager knows the employees family through a marriage between her sibling adn the employees maternal aunt doesn't give the department manager the right to discuss job related things with the employees family. I believe the manager's actions were illegal in some way.

You should make a complaint to the manager"s supervisor. There is no legal action.
