Legal Question in Employment Law in Louisiana

My employer told me if I dont stay till the end of my last week (beyond the 2 week notice I put in) that if anything were to turn up missing I would be blamed and my paycheck would be held. Is this legal for them to even say this much less do it?

Unless you have an employment contract, you can quit with no notice and they still can't hold your check. Louisiana law imposes stiff penalties and attorneys fees against employers that hold the checks of former employees.
