Louisiana is an "at will" employment state, which means you can be fired for any reason at all or even without a reason. The only exceptions are where there is an employment contract (contract between you and your employer), a collective bargaining agreement (between your employer and your union), or discrimination laws, which forbid discrimination (including firing) based on "suspect classifications" like race, sex, national origin, etc. Other than that, your employer can fire you for any reason or for no reason at all.

The example I have used is this. If your employer walks in and says, "I went to an astrologist and he said I should avoid Tauruses," then you say, "That's funny, I'm a Taurus," your employer could say, "You're fired," without breaking any law. So, unless you meet one of the exceptions discussed above, there is nothing you can do about being fired for your husband's bad decision to curse out your boss.
