Legal Question in Employment Law in Louisiana
I have a garnishment issued before the minium wage limit changed to $7.25. My employer is still leaving my take home pay at 383.10 which is the old minimum wage rate (6.55) times 30 less a deduction of 8.90 for insurance. Can they deduct this amount and leave me with less than the maximum wage limit?

Yes. The garnishment is not reducing your wages, it is reducing the amount of your wages that you take home. You earned all of the wages your employer is garnishing, but a portion of your earned wages are being paid to the judgment creditor by order of the court.
