injured on the job

i was recently injured while operating a gas hedger while on the job at a clients location. i am paid cash for this work but had no health insurance. my employer does not feel any obligation towards the approx $1200.00 in emergency room fees and 1 1/2 weeks of missed wages. my employer does not carry workmans comp. do i have any recourse?

If you only do the yard work a few times a month, then you would probably be considered an independent contractor rather than an employee, especially if you have other grounds you keep up. That would seem to indicate that "your business" is a lawn service for others. Only if the guy whose lawn you were working on when injuried was "negligent" which caused your injuries, then it would appear you have no claim.
