Legal Question in Employment Law in Louisiana
Involuntary transfer procedure was not done according school board policy
I am teacher who has been teaching in Morehouse Parish schools for 16 years. The last 8 years I have been at Bastrop High school teaching special education mild/moderate. Three weeks after school begins, (8-30-05)
My principal tells me that he would like to meet with me. He and the supervisor of special education said I would have to transfer to another school because the teacher they hired could not control 10 students and they would have to split the class. Handbook policy says that I should have been informed in writing and seniority should have been given. I have another teacher that is certified in the same area was hired after me, but she's still there because she is friends with the head of the special education department. What can be done about this matter? And could be able to be released from contact since this was done to me. I have been stressed since this has happened and I don't know if I will be able to effective at the new school

Your rights depend on the exact wording of the policy you speak of. You should take a copy of that handbook/policy to a lawyer to review.
