Legal Question in Employment Law in Louisiana
Im a long-term substitute teacher who was working a 90 day position for the school system and recently the prinicipal relieved me of my position at the school without a proper investigation. I talk to persons in human resources at the school system and was told to wait until the director of human resources contacted. Three weeks later after the incident, i eventually had to contact the director myself because i had not heard anything. During our conversation, the director stated that i was cleared of any wrongdoing and was still able to substitute at any other school in the parish, but would not be paid for the three weeks they told me to wait. Actually i felt since i had not done anything wrong i should be paid for the remainder of the 90 days as well as the three weeks waiting in limbo. What should i do?

Without knowing the content of your contract I cannot tell you what to do or whether there is anything you can do. I suspect your position as a substitute means that you are not guaranteed a position and that is where the problem probably comes in. Unless you are guaranteed a position then you have no expectation of employment. If it is otherwise, then you may have a case. One other thing.....if the reason you were let go was a fabrication then you may have them for damages.
