Legal Question in Employment Law in Louisiana
I am a non exempt 12 hour rotation shift worker in Louisiana. When I am not scheduled to work, my employer wants me to give my personal cell # and require it be answered. The employer already has my home phone. When I am off, I am supposed to be off until my next scheduled day or night unless I have signed up for overtime. Can I be required to carry and answer MY personal cell phone and be availabe when not scheduled to work?

Each company can establish whatever policy they desire as long as they are not discriminating based on age, gender, race or disability.
