Legal Question in Employment Law in Louisiana

Oral contract agreements/territories

I was orally contracted to be a sales representative for a particular area. After a month of work my company brought in another individual and, without asking me if i specifically needed help with my area, they split my territory and gave half of it to the new representative. Is this allowable? Any specific law that states if i should be compensated accordingly? Any other information would be helpful too. thanks.

Re: Oral contract agreements/territories

Oral contracts can be enforceable, but there has to be an agreement by all parties of the terms and conditions of that contract. If there are no disagreements as to the contract terms and conditions, then interpretation of those terms and conditions would be the problem. It is obviously that the company does not agree that they gave you an exclusive territory, therefore, what evidence can you produce that would prove you were given that exclusive right?
