Legal Question in Employment Law in Louisiana

My daughter is currently seeking employment and on her new

employment application she has been putting her place of

previous employment. The problem I have is that her place of

previous employment has been giving defamatory and untrue

information to potential employers. I know this for a fact

from a private investigator that I have contacted. He will

testify to the conversation. Also have the conversation is taped. Can my daughter seek compensation for these actions

of her past employer?
