I am not an expert on employment law, but I am an employment lawyer. Based on the sum total of my knowledge and experience, I think that the employer has the right to place you wherever in the company set-up that in the employer's opinion is in the company's best interest; that is, unless you have an employment contract that guarantees you employment elsewhere within the company structure. Lacking an employment contract guaranteeing you a particular job and job site within the company, I feel that if you refused to be transferred within the company, they would be legally justified in terminating your employment. I hope that does not happen! That's the best answer I can give you. Best of luck to you!

Your very simple question is really be much more complex. But going with what you asked, unless the transfer violates some anti-discrimination law, the company still has the right to allocate employees as it sees fit. It is very dangerous when government starts completely dictating what privately owned companies can do.
