Legal Question in Employment Law in Louisiana

I work 7 &7 only one crew no night crew we work from 6 am to 6 pm if we're not busy in the 12 hrs hours we get paid for 12 hrs but if something comes in after 6 pm our bosses say we can't charge and said if they find out we turn work down are refuse to work for free we will be fired for refusing to work I under stand the oil field is slow but we should not have to work for free what can I do

That is absolutely illegal. Your boss can't require you to work without pay just because you were slow while you were on the clock. You should sue.
