Legal Question in Employment Law in Louisiana
I work a 14 days off/ 14 days on schedule in the oil and gas industry. My replacement just recently resigned, leaving an open shift. My boss is requiring me to work this shift, along with my shift to train a new employee. I was scheduled to be off for the holidays, no I am forced to work 6 weeks straight. Initially my boss offered me incentive pay to work, which has always been $100 to $150 a day depending on the situation. I had agreed to work with the incentive pay. Today, I find out that he is only willing to pay me $100 a week incentive pay for 2 weeks. I advised that I would not miss the holidays with my wife and young children for a $100 bonus. He then offered a total of $50 day for a maximum of 7 days, resulting in $350. I am working 14 days extra, doing regular work and training a new replacement. I am to the point where I am going to send in my resignation. Am I legally required to work in the open position, now that our initial agreement has changed ?

Louisiana is a right to hire, right to fire state. Your option is to quit. You don't have a cause of action against your employer because he is requiring you to work.
