Legal Question in Employment Law in Louisiana
I worked for a staffing company for 3 yrs. I've been all several assignments all in which have ended very positively and given back extremely positive feedback on me. Except one. I worked at this last assignment for a month and a half everything was going great until I became sick nothing major just a bad cough and sore throat. So I left early and called in the day after but returned to work the day after I called in. The manager of that clinic was upset no she didn't say she was but she act as if she was. At the end of the work day she called my manger at the staffing company and told her that she didn't want me to return because I haven't done any of the work I was assigned to do, I talk to the co worker all day and I start trouble between co workers at another clinic. All statements are false. I did all my assigned task and then more, I only communicate with my coworkers when its something they my need me to do all which is work related and I never cost any trouble between other employees. I had a month left to work their but because she didn't allow be back I couldn't return. I want to know if I could sue her for defamation or slander base on the false statements she made that now has me out of work?

Louisiana doesnt require a reason to fire. Defamation must be an intentional public statement known to be untrue but stated maliciously. It must cause actual harm.
