Is the landlord or the tenant responsible for animal control fees in the event of an occurance on the rental home?

It depends on what the problem was. If an animal came upon the property and animal control had to be called out to get it out, the tenant would be responsible for that. If the house has termites and they came out to confirm a termite infestation, the landlord would be. Essentially, unless the lease SPECIFICALLY states something to contrary, the landlord in a residential lease is responsible for maintaining the roof, walls, air conditioner, pipes, etc....In other words, the structure of the home itself. The tenant is responsible for all other costs that arise during or as a result of their tenancy.
