Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Louisiana

Landlord/Tenant

Background information: I have lived in my apartment complex since March 2006. The complex switched management companies in September 2007. When the switch occurred, I had a 12-month lease lasting April 1, 2007 - March 31, 2008. I renewed the lease by myself in March, so my new 6-month lease lasts April 1, 2008 - October 31, 2008. When I came home yesterday, there was a note on my door asking for alot of information the office claims is missing from their files. This information includes: my social security number, my employer, how much I make a month, my driver's license number, the make and model of my car, and my license plate number. I have no problem with information relating to my vehicle (we have reserved parking and having this information ensures that our spots remain reserved for the proper resident).

However, I was very confused as to why they wouldn't already have my social security number on file (considering I have renewed my lease since this management company took over), and if they have any legal right to know how much money I make a month. Even though the notice was placed on my apartment door yesterday morning, they want the form back by Monday, September 29th.

Re: Landlord/Tenant

They have a legal right to refuse to renew your lease once it expires, so your only choice is to give them the information they want or find another place to live by the end of the month.
