Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Louisiana

Rental agreements

My daughter entered into a rental agreement on Monday Sept. 15th, 2008 and now she realized she cannot afford to move out at this time. How can she get out of this rental agreement without any liablitiy?

Re: Rental agreements

She can't. The contract is a valid contract and fully enforceable once signed. Think of it from the landlord's point of view. He took the house off the market and may have even turned other parties away when he signed the lease with her. The landlord will be rightfully entitled to some compensation for all of that.

What I would recommend is to approach the landlord in the vein of seeing if you can negotiate down what he will accept to cancel the lease. Maybe you can get half of her deposit back, maybe even more.
