Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Louisiana
I rented a trailer on 9-07-09. I could not afford the elec. deposit of $725.00. I told the landlord yesterday. The reciept for the rent does not say nonrefundable. Can I get my rent money of $750.00 back?

Most likely, no. If there is a lease, you are bound for the entire lease term. If there is no lease, you still have entered ino a verbal month-to-month lease under the law. Under that type of lease, either side may refuse to renew for the following month with 10 days' notice. However, you can't get back the rent you've already paid. The place is yours for the month at least.
