Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Louisiana

liability company files bankruptcy during civil suit

I have recently filed a wrongful death suit against a medical clinic whose liability company has since filed bankruptcy. Do these liability companies have no obligation to suits in progress when the suit was filed 2 years prior to bankruptcy? I don't understand how this can be. Please help.

Thank You.

Re: liability company files bankruptcy during civil suit

It seems that you already have an attorney representing you in your lawsuit, and I strongly recommend you make an appointment with him and ask him all the questions you have. If by liability company you mean the insurance company which carried the clinic's malpractice coverage, then you are protected if the insurance company goes bankrupt. But regardless, you would still have a claim against the clinic itself.
