Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Louisiana

My mother died, negligence?

My mother recently died due to a *bowel rupture*, preceeding her death she had diareaha for over a month and had been to her medical doctor numerous times,in fact the day before her death, the day before she died she complained of burning in her side, to which there was no action taken by her doctor, he said the reason for her diareaha was from a bladder infection and the antibiotic she was on. This particular doctor is also the doctor that in front on me began to prescribe her a medication that would have severe consequences if I didn't step in a ask him if it was ok that she take it with her noted kidney problems, he then looked at his pocket medical book and agreed with me and changed the prescription. My mother had numerous medical problems and a stubborn personality to boot, however to see her recover from cancer 3 years ago, and to end up dying this way is awful. I am unsure if there is a case, but I guess I would like to know if there is a way someone could review the medical records to find out if there was negligence.

Re: My mother died, negligence?

The history you have given is suspicious for negligence.

I am a doctor and lawyer and review these kinds of cases for people who are considering a malpractice lawsuit. There are a number of questions I would ask before undertaking a review, such as, the date this happened., your mothers age and state of health at the time of her death, and how you determined that she died of a ruptured bowel. Please call me if you would like to discuss these questions.

As strict time limits apply to all lawsuits, you should contact me or another attorney as soon as possible if you are considering a medical malpractice lawsuit.
