Legal Question in Personal Injury in Louisiana

if there was an email sent to countless people that contained personal and cofedential information about me and others that has placed me in the care of a psychiatrist, on medication and a sebatical from work only for a few months what recourse do i have?

Libel is an intentional tort. It would be the transmission in writing of something publically which the writer knows to be false and with the intention of causing harm. Slander is saying something publically known to be false with the intention of causing harm. Both must cause actual damage.
