Legal Question in Personal Injury in Louisiana

If I hire a roofer and get him to sign an agreement that he will not sue me if he gets hurt on my property, will that protect me from liability (except for gross negligence or intentional acts)?

You really cannot protect yourself from your own negligence even if just slight. However, you can enter into a contract wherein he provides liability insurance for your property and protection for his workers in case one of them is injuried. But remember as a contractor you will ordinarily only be liable for your own negligence, not for mere injuries that happen on your property. Also, I assume you have homeowners.....make sure it covers someone working on your property.
