Legal Question in Personal Injury in Louisiana

I have a lawsuit pending against my insurance co. and I recently signed a proof of loss document and have spoken with the underwriters. My question is how long before I get the money?? A few more months or another year???

If your lawsuit is pending, why hasn't your attorney answered your question? Signing a proof of claim does not mean your case is settled. If you do not have a lawsuit and there is no question your insurance covered your loss, then you may have a claim for penalties for their failure to timely pay the uncontested amount. I am guessing you do not have a filed lawsuit and the proof of claim is what the insurance company says is needed to "evaluate" the claim. That buys them some time. Lastly it depends on the insurance company. Some are barely surviving and use delaying tactics to avoid paying until they absolutely have to.
