Legal Question in Personal Injury in Louisiana

Is it legal for a law firm to charge a client if the firm has dropped the accident claim? If so, are they still eligible to receive 33% of the settlement even though they have not settle any part of the case? This case will be settle out of court with the insurance company. Settle was never discussed with the law firm.

Too many variables to simply answer your question. They obviously spent some time on the case for which they can and should be compensated. However, taking 1/3 is only appropriate if they had a settlement for you and you refused it and then went back and took it after they were no longer your lawyers.
