Legal Question in Personal Injury in Louisiana

I was recently in an accident on November 13, 2010. I came to a stop sign and made a complete stop but due to an event in the area there were many cars parked on the corners close to the stop sign which was an obstruction of my vision. As i crept up to see if it was okay to proceed i was stuck by another car. The driver of the car did not have a license nor was it her car. The officer told me i was at fault even though the girl didnt have a license. Now they may be trying to sue me for injuries. Can i sue for contributory negligence? What should i do?

If you are insured, your insurance company handles the defense. The ticket was issued to you because the stop sign indicated it was your duty not to proceed until it was safe to do so. The other driver should have been ticketed for no driver's license but this would not be an action for you to collect damages. It will go to the weight of the evidence if the matter goes to trial.
