Legal Question in Personal Injury in Louisiana

The relationship of whiplash to prexisting obstructive sleep apnea

I was involved a car accident in february of 2001 where i was rearended at approximately 60 miles miles and hour as i sat completely still preparing to make a left hand turn. my vehicle was knocked approxiately 100 feet from the point of inpact. i was temporarialy knocked out but regained conscienceness almost immediately. I have a medical condition that since that accident had been diagnoised as obstructive sleep apnea. i had been being seen for a condition that had a the characteristics but had never recieved a diagnoises. but since the accident my symptons have gotten worse. i want to know if whiplash could have any barring on this condition? since i have done some research and find that whiplash could have some of the same symptons.. please help me and see if i can get some answers to these very pressing questions

Re: The relationship of whiplash to prexisting obstructive sleep apnea

Your question(s) really should be addressed to a physician, not an attorney. However, one thing I can tell you from my 29 years of practicing law is that even a minor accident can cause the most unusual, yet ligitimate, symptoms in a person. It depends on the individual, the dynamics of the accident, and the aftercare.

Find a good attorney who has been doing a variety personal injury work for some time, one who recognizes that EVERY symptom must be investigated by the appropriate expert.

By all means see a capable attorney.

Discuss your problems with the doctor who diagnosed the sleep apnea. Clearly it is common for a pre-existing condition to significantly worsen because of your new injuries.
