Legal Question in Personal Injury in Louisiana
slip and fall/herniated disk injury
I fell at a local convenient store. It had rained heavily that day. I went in to purchase a lottery ticket and I was walking back to my car(wearing tennis shoes) I slipped back hurting my arm. I reported the accident and went to the nearest emergency where I was diagnosed as a mild nerve palsy(complaining of numbness/weakness in the arm) The insurance company called the next day and I gave them this information which I shouldn't have I found out from a neurologist that I have carpal tunnel syndrome but had not had any symptons prior to the fall. My MRI results indicated a C3-4 herniated disc without nerve entrapment and no stenosis. Did giving the statement about my injuries hurt my case since I didn't have all the details

Re: slip and fall/herniated disk injury
Dear LawGuru Friend,
No, you did not do the wrong thing by making the statement you did. Send me your mailing address, and I will send you a paper I wrote about so-called "Slip 'N Fall" accidents, as well as another one I wrote entitled "How Insurance Companies Evaluate a Case for Settlement Purposes." I do not think this web-site likes for us lawyers to give out our addresses and/or phone numbers, so you will have to get those on your own, but it is not hard to do. On LawGuru web-site I do have a web-page that you will just have to look for. I am pretty sure it lists my name, address and phone number. I hope this answers your question. I would urge you to continue under the care of your medical doctor until you are asymptomatic: well from the fall and no longer need the care, consultation and/or medicationos that you can obtain only from a medical doctor. Sounds to me as if you were injured pretty badly in this accident. There is more to it all than this, but this is something to think about.
Sincerely,
