certificate of deposit
Have a certificate of deposit listed ina probate. the bank is saying there is going to be a penalty for cashing out the C.D... I thought these penalties were waived when dealing with probate.

What I know about CD's is that they have their own conditions and those conditions do not change because of death. If the CD does not "mature" until a certain date, than you have to wait until that date.

I agree with Nick. There are other investment vehicles that terminate upon death, but not CDs. Getting the rights to the money in the CD is not the same thing as getting the money in your hand.
