Legal Question in Product Liability in Louisiana

I am a provider of a product that was just made illegal in a state do to the misuse by consumers. Before it was ban my product was slander and libel on all major net works with no factual backings they invented no titils to my products witch was not repisented by my business. Before it was banned police went to stores making them remove the products and taking them from the stores i am a vendor to. My trade marks were assualted on the news weeks before state officals desided yo ban them and go from store to store taking the product. My current loses are in the $500,000 range in containers, labels, bags, labor and or packaging expences for the products i had vended to stores on contracts for monthly payment on a products sold base. That isn't counting future profits apon sell just expence is there anyway to resive compensation for the loses gained before legal change. i dont want to sue everybody but my business has been destoryed by the state.

You will be very lucky if you are not sued under the products liability statutes whether the suits are successful or not. I imagine your losses will end up higher than at present just to defend against suits. The police were acting in the interest of public safety and will be immune from suit. The media was reporting news and so was reporting facts without malice or intent to damage .

I agree with Ms Lucas.....if your product has injured people like the news says, forget the half million you lost, you better check the policy limits of your liability insurance policy. If you do not have at least 100 million in liability coverage, you better pray no one gets sick from your product. Besides the immunity issue, you need to think about whether a lawsuit will bring unwanted publicity that could lead to lawsuits against you. If you can prove everything that was said was absolutely false, and the vilification of your product was also absolutely false, then sue. But my suggestion is seek legal advice in person. If a lawyer wants to charge you up front money, then you do not have a case.
