Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Louisiana

Am I bound by a lease I did not sign? My lease expired at the end of July 2011 and I did not sign a renewal. Now I need to move and my management company says I have to honor the lease which expires at the end of January 2012. They said I could "buy out" of the current lease by paying November and December rent and move at the end of November but I don't have that kind of money. What are my rights in this case?

You are bound by the renewal provisions from the last lease you signed.

If the written lease ended, you then began to lease month by month........if that is the case, since you have already given them notice of moving, then you only owe through October. Of course, I do not know what the original lease says about when it ends. You need to determine that it did not automatically renew under the same conditions.
