Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Louisiana

A company is interested in buying my mineral rights located in Desoto Parish, LA and are sending me paperwork to look over. How do I find out if this offer is acceptable and that I am not being cheated and what rights I am actually giving up?

Your clerk of court or assessor's office should be able to help you find what your area is getting for mineral leasing. You would be wise to bring the paperwork to an attorney familiar with this area to review any agreements before you sign them. What you gve up will be outlined in these papers. An attorney in your area would also be able to help you negotiate any changes that may be appropriate.

I agree with Ms. Lucas. Louisiana is a hot bed for minerals at the moment and I believe DeSoto Parish is in the middle of it.
