Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Louisiana
My ex-husband (marriage was annullled) gifted real estate deed to me (my name was not on the mortgage, only on the deed with his), several years later now, his attorney contacted me with threats to sue for past mortgage payments and taxes paid by my ex unless I sign an act of donation releasing ownership to this property. Can I really be held responsible for past mortgage payments and taxes? Am I responsible for any money owed on this property and if so, will the act of donation relieve me of any responsibility past or in the future?

Money owed has a three year prescriptive period unless there was a contract or judgment against you.
This is too complex a situation for this site. Go to an Attorney and get advice after he has a chance to question you about the details.
