Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Louisiana

Furniture I was asked to hold.

About a month ago a neighbor was evicted from their home & asked me to hold 3 or 4 pieces of dilapidated old furniture for them until they got settled in their new appartment. They have never come & we don't know how to contact them other then Email & they don't respond. This junk is in our way & we really want to get rid of it. Do we have any legal obligations where it is concerned. We were told that we had to hold it for 30 days before we could throw it out. Please help us. It can't stay in our way forever. Didn't know which area of law to choose so just guessed. Thank you.

The La. Civil Code has a section regarding holding items for someone. You can probably find it online or retain me to explain your rights to you; it won't take me long.
