Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Louisiana
In July of 09 I took out an auto loan, using 5000$ of my military bonus. For financial reasons the bank suggested placing the car in my mothers name. I actively spoke out against this, for fear of my mother trying to take my car. The lender assured me he could set up the paper work to where the title would be in my name when it was paid off. I then reluctantly agreed and Co-Signed the loan. My fears are now being realized and my mother has been taking my car. I try to stop her but she threatens to call the cops if i take my own car now. My questions are..Is there actually a legal route that would transfer the title upon the final payment, like the lender told me he could set up? Could my mother overturn a transfer of title upon completion of payment, being the primary name on the loan? I can prove that I have been paying the car note through bank statements from my personal bank account. How can i get my car in my name?

Your story is so bizarre that I suggest you contact the Louisiana Attorney General's office and explain what you have written here. Also contact the Federal Prosecutors office because this bank seems to have violated its duty to you. If you knew your mom would do what she is doing why would you consent to it?
