Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Louisiana

i listed my home with a realtor , received and accepted an offer , after the buyers did a title search , it has came to my attention that i donot own this property free and clear , now the real estate co. , attorney for the buyer and the buyer are suing me , i was trying to sell my home in good faith , i did not know .

If you are being sued, you really need to retain an attorney. You aren't going to get enough information via a short BBS answer-reply to build a defense to litigation. If you have not already done so, you should immediately move the Court for an extension of time of 30 days to give you time to find an attorney in your area. You only have 15 days (10 in City Court) from the time you are served with the petition to answer the lawsuit. You can get an extension of that time either by agreement of the plaintiffs' attorney(s) or by filing an extension of time with the Clerk of Court. If you do not answer or ask for the extension of time within that time frame, you can be defaulted and lose without ever going to court.
