If you have been paying property tax on property that you own in indivision with other co-owners, you can force the co-owners to reimburse you for their share. If they refuse to pay, you can have the property divided up and sold to pay your bill. Usually, most heirs will just sell out to you, giving you a credit for the money you paid already and accepting cash or a promissory note for the remaining amounts owed to them for their portion. It may be necessary to hire an appraiser to get an exact value of the property. If so, that expense should also be shared proportionally amongst the co-owners.
