Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Louisiana

A pit bull came into our yard and chewed up our dog. We need to take the dog to a vet; what are our options for getting the vet bill paid? How can we make the owners keep their dog in their own yard? We live in Lincoln parish out side city limits.

Basically, if property of someone comes onto your property and damages your property, then they can be held liable for the damages. And an order that the dog be kept away from your property. If the dog has a reputation and the owners have been warned previously, then possible criminal charges against them. If no prior instances, then this is one that gets them warned.
