Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Louisiana
Property
I purchased two lots in Sept. '05. One lot was for my home 2 be built on & the other was 4 extra yard space. The lots were right next 2 a drainge dept. entry way. After Hurricane Katrina, the drainage dept. asked me & my neighbor to pay 4 our portion of a fence 2 be put up to stop people from going on the levee & they would give us a key so we still could have access to our back yards. After the fence went up, they decided not 2 give us a key. In July of last year I purchased a pool and had it installed in my back yard 4 my children. The drainage dept. just had a survey done & they are saying that the pool is 1 1/2 feet on their property & they want it moved. It appears as though the property that I was sold did not belong 2 the builders but the drainage dept. All I have is my cancelled check because the hurricane took my original paperwork. The builders have amnesia and the survey that we were orginally given when we purchased the lots are totally different now. The drainage dept. has not produced written paperwork to prove this, but they want the pool moved. What can I do to fight this? I can't find a lawyer to take the case because everyone says that this company is big and they know a lot of people. What can I do

You need to find an attorney. You do not say where you are from, so it is hard to recommend someone. There is evidence in the clerk of courts office that would prove who owns what.
