Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Louisiana
Reply to answer: inherited property
We already went through succession and probate. The house is in both our names legally. It is a double. I don't know how much to ask for. If he buys me out now i will be losing out because the house is not completed. The appraisal will me more once the house is completed. But i want to purchase me a home now. Also what are we suppose to do with the road home monies if he buys me out now. Do i ask him to give me a certain amount now and get i notarized, and once the house is completed get a appraisal and then he paids me the difference, then get my name off of the deed.

You are asking questions a little at a time instead of sitting down with an attorney who can discuss all of the issues. You inherited the house where is, as is, and at its value at this time. If road home money goes with the house, then I am guessing, and this is one reason you need to see a lawyer, that when he buys you out, he pays for what the house is worth in its present condition, plus 1/2 of the road home money. No one is required to own something in indivision, so if worse comes to worse, either of you can go to court and ask the court to decide what each of you gets, or order it sold at sheriff's sale.
