Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Louisiana

If someone has a tree that is on your property as well as their property from the ground up,and you want to put up a fence without giving up some of your property, can you put the fence on the other side of the tree which would be on their property? If not, can we make them cut it down?

You cannot go on the neighbors property. Why not use the tree as part of the fence? You should meet with your neighbor and try to settle the issue.
