Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Louisiana

Usufruct

I bought a house from my mother. She retains the right to live there, or something called a usufruct clause. What rights do I have on the property and what are my liabilities? The house needs repairs and she does not tend to it.

Re: Usufruct

There are certain rights and oligations of both the naked owner (which in this case would be you) and the usufructuary (your mother)have.

An attorney would need to review the document which created the usufruct to see what these are.
