Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Louisiana

Utility company cut all limbs off one side of oak tree in my yard. The base of the tree is 18 ft from my property line. The utility lines are single lines and are on the property line. My plot has a 7.5' servitude on my side of the property line and a 7.5' servitude on my neighbors side. The utility co. says they have a 15 ft servitude on my side of the property and my plot is for a drainage servitude. Plot just says 7.5' servitude and does not specify utility or drainage. This plot has not changed since I purchased it in 1998. I do not believe that they had a right to cut the limbs to the trunk of the tree - even if they had 15ft on my side of the property line. Also, what is the utility company's responsible for damages? Also, who is correct about the servitude?

The utility company has the right to trim the trees and more than likely they are correct on the servitude.
