Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Louisiana

Does a utility company have the right to trim tree branches out of the servitude? The trunk of one tree is 3 ft 2 ins away from what they say is the servitude and the other is 11.7 ft from what they say is the servitude. Parish planning and zoning told me that the servitude was on my plot which is 7.5 ft on my side of the line. They are still out of their servitude. They cut limbs to the trunk of the trees.

Due to the nature of the public service aspect of the utility servitude, they have the right to trim trees that are encroaching on the servitude. If it wasn't necessary to trim the tree to the trunk to preserve the tree, 11 feet appears excessive. If the tree wasn't killed though, it would be a difficult fight for little or no compensation.
