Legal Question in Securities Law in Louisiana

Property Inheritance

My mother and her 4 siblings were born and raised in Louisiana. Their father died while they were children in the 1920's. His grandfather, father to his mother, owned property which was ''lost'' due to the fact that their father died before his grandfather and grandmother. I have located the parish containing this ''lost'' property and am working to determine it's actual location and status, if possible. Are their any laws in Louisiana that pertain to the inheritance or non-inheritance of property owned back in the 1930's?

Re: Property Inheritance

Your question is posted as a dual California-Louisiana matter, but 99% of the potentially-applicable law would be Louisiana law. Unlike the law of the other 49 states, Louisiana law is based upon Roman/French 'civil law' rather than English 'common law.' It is very different from the law of the other 49 states especially in very traditional areas of the law such as inheritance. Hence, you absolutely need commentary from attorneys who practice in Louisiana.
